Our timeless bracelet is modeled after two gold belt attachments (1st century B.C-1st century A.D.) from The Met’s Greek and Roman Study Collection. Roman Republic laws limited the display of personal wealth, but jewelry made a comeback in the imperial period after 27 B.C. Many goldsmiths migrated to Rome to satisfy this new market, and their styles were copied throughout the Roman empire as well-to-do provincials sought to follow imperial fashions.
