The Green Pillar Boxwood is a narrow, upright, evergreen shrub with hearty foliage. The plant’s medium to finely textured green foliage and high tolerance to pruning makes it the ideal tree for a wide variety of landscape projects. Botanically referenced as Buxus Sempervirens Green Pillar, it has a naturally slender, tall form and grows to be a mature height of nine feet tall and only one foot in width. This variety of Boxwood is extremely cold-resistant, and the foliage does not brown in winter. The ideal planting conditions for these hardy evergreen shrubs include full sun and a well-draining soil medium. These Boxwoods will also tolerate partial shade and moderate periods of drought. No pruning is necessary to keep the upright form. Green Pillar Boxwood is the perfect plant for any situation, from formal garden foundation plantings to a mid-height privacy hedge for small spaces. As one of the more columnar boxwoods, the Green Pillar is also great for topiary shapes due to its high tolerance to pruning.
