Agastache Golden Jubilee has chartreuse-colored leaves that are mint-scented when crushed or cut. The gorgeous blue flowers not only stand out against the yellow foliage but are irresistible to butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds. The large purple-blue flower spikes tower above the plant and make great cut flowers from summer into fall. This rugged, drought-tolerant plant performs well even in the high heat and humidity of the southern states. Golden Hyssop plants are also highly deer resistant, making them excellent choices for pollinator gardens or those desperately searching for plants the deer won’t eat. We have also found this plant very useful for adding color to perennial borders when little else is in flower. The golden foliage does not burn in the full sun like other chartreuse plants. Even when this Anise plant is not in bloom, it still adds color to the garden. The ideal conditions for these tough perennials include full sun to part shade and well-drained soils. Removing the spent flower stalks as the color begins to fade allows the plant to rebloom, extending the flowering season almost through the fall.
