Philippe Starck and Emeco came together to create a chair that is reclaimed, repurposed, recyclable – and designed to last.“Imagine”, says Philippe Starck, “a guy who takes a humble broom and starts to clean the workshop and with this dust he makes new magic”.
Broom is made from 75% waste polypropylene and 15% reclaimed wood that would normally be swept into the trash. The wood particles create a speckled texture that gives the surface a warmer, more natural touch. Lighter colors show the contrast of wood fibers more.
Applying what was practiced in the past, and always looking toward the future. The mission is to make a positive impact on the environment. The goals are to use waste material in their products, use as little energy as possible in manufacturing, generate a minimum of waste in the process, and build strong, durable, beautiful chairs that last through generations. Emeco has on the same mission since 1944 and will continue to search for new ways to recover and utilize discarded materials and make products that last.
