Founded in 1885 in London’s West India Docks, Davey & Co’s marine lighting and hardware graced many of history’s best-known vessels. As Britain’s maritime heyday faded, Davey & Co used the skills honed manufacturing deck lights, saloon and navigation lanterns to launch Davey Lighting. Davey’s hand-made fixtures were snapped up by the world of architecture and design, taking pride of place in locations such as the Savoy Hotel.
The Well Glass Hook light was designed as a portable hand-held task light. Originally fitted with a long rubber cable for easy transportation and a hook for hanging on ship’s decks or stable doors, today, the rubber has been exchanged for a cotton braided cable so the light can be placed on flat surfaces or suspended.
