Van Gogh Roses Salad Plate from The Met Museum

$16.00

Our stoneware plate shows details from Roses, the celebrated still life in The Met collection by Vincent van Gogh (Dutch, 1853-1890). The appealing floral design highlights the artist’s sumptuous rose petals and dark foliage on a pale green ground. This pretty ceramic plate with scalloped edges is an elegant choice for lunch or dessert. In May 1890, just before his departure from the asylum in Saint-Rémy, the artist painted an exceptional group of four still lifes, to which the Museum’s Roses, (and also Irises ) belong. These stunning bouquets were created by Van Gogh as a thematic quartet.
