Portraits of the New Architecture 2 | Assouline

$85.00

Following the success of the first volume, Portraits of the New Architecture II introduces thirty-four new and exciting architects and architectural firms whose projects are shaping the future of architectural design. With an insightful introduction by Pulitzer Prize–winning architectural critic Paul Goldberger, this magnificent volume includes sketches and designs as well as Richard Schulman’s stunning portraits of these architects’ projects. Featured architects include David Adjaye, Asymptote, Bjarke Ingles, Jeanne Gang, Dominique Perrault, Annabelle Selldorf, and Alvaro Siza. While the book emphasizes the power of contemporary architecture, Schulman’s excellent images reveal unique and intimate angles, and the sketches and layouts provide a special perspective into each project’s genesis. Richard Schulman has photographed leading artists, collectors, and patrons of the arts, as well as architectural masterpieces, as found in his first book for Assouline, Portraits of the New Architecture (2004). Schulman’s work has appeared in The New York Times, the London Times, Vanity Fair, Paris Match, and Der Spiegel . He is currently a lecturer on the history of photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Paul Goldberger is a Pulitzer Prize–winning architectural critic and educator who holds the Joseph Urban Chair in Design and Architecture at The New School in New York City, and was formerly Dean of the Parsons School of Design. Goldberger is currently a contributing editor for Vanity Fair magazine, and from 1997 to 2011 he was the architecture critic for The New Yorker , for which he wrote the magazine’s celebrated Sky Line column.
