Ladies’ Amusement Square Tray from The Met Museum

$72.00

Glass Floral Tray, Unique Serving Dish This elegant decoupage tray shows details from a color plate in Ladies Amusement: Or, The Whole Art of Japanning Made Easy. The fanciful design, by Jean Pillement (French, 1728-1808), appeared in a popular 1760 book published in London. Pillement published numerous collections of exotic designs that were widely disseminated in Europe. Adapted from the Museum’s Department of Drawings and Prints, this art-inspired design was made exclusively for The Met by John Derian. Based in New York City, Derian’s workshop is celebrated for his unique decoupage creations featuring hand-blown glass.
