John Derian Insect Motif Round Plate from The Met Museum

$60.00

Decorative Glass, Decoupage Insect Plate Our striking decoupage plate shows a detail from Small Motifs of Insects and Plants, an engraving in The Met collection by Georg Herman (German, born 1579-after 1625). The original print shows an assortment of insects, plants, a snail, and a turtle. Because he signed most of his prints, we know that Herman made the majority of them between the ages of 15 and 24. Adapted from the Museum’s Department of Drawings and Prints, this art-inspired design was made exclusively for The Met by John Derian. Based in New York City, Derian’s workshop is celebrated for his unique decoupage creations featuring hand-blown glass.
